When people think of Busan, Haeundae Beach is often one of the first places that comes to mind. It’s the city’s most famous beach, known for its long stretch of sand, lively atmosphere, and mix of both relaxation and activities.
No matter the season, Haeundae always has something going on, which makes it a must-visit stop in Busan.
How to Get to Haeundae Beach
Haeundae Beach is easy to reach by public transportation. You can take the subway or hop on a bus, and apps like Naver Map will guide you directly there. Payment is simple with a T-money or Rail+ card.

If you’re coming from the northern part of Busan, you can also ride the Beach Train and get off at Mipo Station, then take a short walk to the beach. It’s a scenic route that gives you a nice view of the coastline before you arrive.
What to Expect at Haeundae Beach
Haeundae is a wide, long beach that seems to stretch endlessly. On a warm day, you’ll see people relaxing on the sand, playing beach sports like volleyball, and heading out into the water for activities like jet skiing or swimming. Even if you don’t plan to get in the water, it’s a lively spot to stroll and people-watch.

Restaurants and cafes line the area around the beach, many of them specializing in fresh seafood. It’s easy to grab a quick bite or sit down for a proper meal with ocean views.
Depending on the time of year, there are also seasonal events. During my visit, the beach was filled with sand sculptures, which I’m not sure were part of a contest, but they definitely added something special to the atmosphere.

On one side of the beach, you’ll find a tucked-away trail leading to Dongbaekseom, a small island that’s connected to the mainland. The trail winds along the coast, offering beautiful views of Haeundae as you walk. Along the way, you’ll spot a mermaid sculpture and eventually reach the Dongbaekseom Lighthouse, which makes a nice photo stop.

The trail circles back to the main beach, making it an easy and enjoyable loop. It’s not a strenuous walk, but it adds a nice balance of nature and scenery to the otherwise busy beach area. For me, it was a great way to step away from the crowds for a little while before heading back.
Haeundae Beach is popular for a reason. It combines sun, sand, food, and a bit of culture all in one place. Whether you’re just there to relax, explore the coastal trail, or catch a seasonal event, it’s one of those iconic Busan spots that deserves a place on your itinerary.
