Attending the 2024 SBS Gayo Daejeon on December 25 at Inspire Arena in Incheon was an unforgettable experience.

As part of Hallyu tourism, I was able to secure a discounted ticket that included roundtrip shuttle transportation. The only catch? Each person could only get one ticket, and seating was assigned randomly. I was prepared for anything, but to my surprise, I ended up with a fantastic seat—row 2 in the uppermost section, directly facing the stage. Since the stage was round and surrounded by the audience, the view was better than I expected, making the experience even more enjoyable.

The event was hosted by TXT’s Yeonjun, NCT’s Doyoung, and IVE’s An Yu-jin, who kept the energy high throughout the night. The first act was Lee Young-ji, and she set the perfect tone for what was to come. While I mainly attended for Stray Kids, I had a great time seeing so many different K-pop groups and soloists perform. Aside from Stray Kids, some of my favorite performances were from ZeroBaseOne, NCT Dream, Riize, and ENHYPEN. Each group brought their own energy, and it was incredible to see how the crowd responded to them.

One of the coolest moments of the night was the special collaboration stage, where members from different groups came together to perform EXO’s Love Me Right. Woonhak (BOYNEXTDOOR), Han Yujin (ZeroBaseOne), Jihoon and Kyungmin (TWS), and Ryo and Sakuya (NCT WISH) absolutely nailed the performance, and it was fun seeing idols from different groups team up for something unexpected. The show also featured several solo performances from group members, adding even more variety to the lineup.
Of course, the night's biggest highlight was seeing 2NE1 and G-Dragon make their comebacks. The energy in the arena was unreal when they appeared, and you could feel the excitement from fans who had been waiting for this moment for years. It was a true “only at Gayo Daejeon” kind of experience, the kind of thing you don’t get to witness often.

Beyond the performances, there were so many fun activities outside the arena, with organizers handing out freebies and various booths offering gifts if you participated in their events. It felt like a giant festival celebrating K-pop as a whole.

Overall, SBS Gayo Daejeon 2024 was an incredible experience filled with amazing performances, surprises, and a sense of unity among K-pop fans. Seeing so many fandoms come together to cheer for every artist was truly special, and it reminded me why I love events like this. It’s not just about the groups we stan; it’s about the shared excitement, the music, and the community. If I ever get the chance to go again, I absolutely will.
