Munich has a vibrant culinary scene with a wide range of dining options, so there are lots of restaurants to explore throughout the city. During my short stay there, I only got to dine in a few restaurants so I made sure to try the delicacies that Germany is famous for.

I came across HeimWerk Tal in Munich while I was walking around in Old Town. This was during lunch time and most places were starting to fill up. I decided to try this restaurant because it had good interiors and the vibe of the place felt very relaxing.

Of course, I had to try two dishes that are part of the quintessential German cuisine: the schnitzel and pretzel.

Schnitzel in HeimWerk Tal in Munich
crispy pork schnitzel and potato fries

German pretzel
pretzel with two dips: Obazda and herb cream cheese

The schnitzel was tasty. Take note that the schnitzel didn't come with fries as it was a separate order. I did order the snack size with one schnitzel instead of two, thinking it would be just enough, but I was surprised that it was smaller than I expected. Back in Vienna, I could hardly finish two schnitzels because each piece was big.

The pretzel was baked perfectly as it was a bit crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The dip that it came with was also good and it added some contrast to the taste of the pretzel.

Overall, the food here was good and the service was excellent. The prices were reasonable given the quality of the food. The staff was quite friendly and attentive.

I would definitely recommend HeimWerk Tal if ever you're in Munich and want to try authentic German food.
