Apart from the Beach Break in Urbiztondo in San Juan, there are a few other surfing spots in La Union, thus making it known as the "surfing capital" of the North. These other surfing spots are being visited by locals and tourists alike whenever the Beach Break gets too crowded or the waves aren't that good.

Taboc in San Juan, La Union is one of these other spots. I got to surf there one time. It was one of those days when the waves were popping in Urbiztondo but it was mostly white wash and the current was just too strong. So on a whim, and a valid one at that, I asked Allan to take me to Taboc.

When we got there, my face instantly lit up. I saw waves! Lots and lots of good waves for surfing. No white wash, no closed out waves.

 nailed it, I think
after almost three hours of surfing

It was a good two and a half hours of pure bliss. I think it was even more than two and a half hours, with a five minute break in between to hydrate. It was fun, even though I ended up having sore arms and shoulders afterwards.

That's about it for this post. Taboc is just a good fifteen to twenty minutes drive from Urbiztondo, just drive North and lookout for road signs. If you don't have a car and you're in Beach Break and you want to go to Taboc, just ask the locals to take you there. You can even have your surf lessons there.
