Lotte World Tower is a landmark in Seoul, South Korea, known for its impressive height and stunning architecture. This skyscraper is one of the tallest buildings in the world and offers breathtaking views of the city.

Lotte World Tower

I've visited Seoul a few times but never visited Lotte World Tower until recently. It was one of these days when I didn't have anything planned, and the tower came to mind as one of the places I hadn't visited yet. So I finally did, and here's a quick guide.

What to Expect at Lotte World Tower

Lotte World Tower is the sixth tallest building in the world and the tallest in South Korea. It stands at 555 meters or 1,821 feet tall and boasts 123 floors. Construction of the tower was completed in 2016, and it was officially opened to the public the following year. The tower's design is inspired by traditional Korean art forms, featuring a sleek, tapered shape that blends harmoniously with the surrounding cityscape.

Here's what you can expect at the tower.

Seoul Sky

Located on the 117th to 123rd floor, Seoul Sky is the highest observation deck in South Korea. Here, you'll be treated to breathtaking 360-degree views of Seoul, including the Han River, Namsan Tower, and the bustling cityscape.

You can enjoy the panoramic vistas from the indoor viewing area or step onto the outdoor terrace for an even more thrilling experience. Some parts of the Seoul Sky are glass-bottomed for some added thrill. Walking along the transparent glass, I felt a rush of adrenaline as I looked down hundreds of meters below.

Sky Bridge

The Sky Bridge is a thrilling attraction that connects the two points of the tower's iconic tapered shape. To access the Sky Bridge, you'll need to purchase a separate ticket from the observation deck ticket and wear a safety harness. Walking along the bridge, you'll feel a rush of adrenaline as you look down hundreds of meters below. I didn't try this during my visit, but I'll definitely put it on my bucket list when I return to Seoul.

Shopping

You can also explore the Lotte World Mall, a massive shopping complex connected to the tower. Discover a wide range of shops, boutiques, and department stores offering everything from luxury brands to local souvenirs.

Dining

Visitors can indulge in a variety of culinary delights at the numerous restaurants and cafes located within the tower and mall. From international cuisine to traditional Korean delicacies, there's something for everyone.

How to Get There

Lotte World Tower is conveniently located in Jamsil, Seoul, and there are several ways to get there.

By public transportation, you can take the subway to Jamsil Station via Line 2 or Line 8)and exit through Exit 2 or 3. The tower is a short walk from the station. Several bus lines also stop near Lotte World Tower. Just make sure to check Naver Map to get the exact route based on your starting point.

Alternatively, you can hail a taxi or book one through the KakaoTaxi app. The driver should know the tower's address.

Where to Get Tickets

Entrance to Lotte World Tower is free, as you can simply enter the building and check out the shops or restaurants. However, admission is available for the observation decks, which can be purchased online through Klook or at the ticket counter on the tower's basement floor. I highly recommend buying tickets in advance, especially during peak tourist seasons, to avoid long queues and potential sold-out situations.
