Iho Tewoo Beach is a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Jeju Island, especially in the summer. This picturesque stretch of coastline offers a unique blend of natural beauty, cultural significance, and recreational activities.

Iho Tewoo Beach

This beach was at the top of my Jeju bucket list because of BTS. In 2022, Jin posted his iconic photo showing off his "7" tattoo, and it was taken on that beach. Of course, I had to go there as I was following their footsteps by exploring the places they've visited.

What to Expect at Iho Tewoo Beach

Famous for its iconic horse-shaped lighthouses, Iho Tewoo Beach pays homage to Jeju's equestrian heritage. These charming structures are a beloved symbol of the island and a photographer's dream, especially at sunset. And if you're sitting on the plane's left side on the way to Jeju, you'd be able to see these lighthouses while the plane is descending on the island. I thought it was such a welcoming sight during my arrival.

Beyond its distinctive landmarks, the beach features soft, light-colored sand and clear waters, making it ideal for water activities. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely day soaking up the sun or cool off with a refreshing swim. For those seeking adventure, Iho Tewoo Beach offers a range of water sports, including jet skiing, kayaking, and paddleboarding. You'll also see some people fishing and camping.

If you get hungry, you can indulge in delicious seafood dishes and other local delicacies at nearby restaurants.

Iho Tewoo Beach is a public beach that is freely accessible to everyone. Unlike some private beaches, there are no designated entrances. Visitors can enter from any point along the shoreline. Despite its open nature, the beach offers essential amenities, like restrooms and showers, ensuring a pleasant experience for all.

When I visited, it was rainy and gloomy, which probably explains why the beach didn't look as nice in my photos, especially when I compared it with photos I saw on the web. So the best time to visit is probably July, which is the peak of summer in South Korea.

How to Get to Iho Tewoo Beach

Like anywhere else in Jeju, the easiest and fastest way to Iho Tewoo Beach is by rental car. However, since it's conveniently located near Jeju City, it's also easily accessible by public transportation or taxi.

Several bus routes connect Jeju City to Iho Tewoo Beach. From my hotel, I had to walk 10 minutes to a bus stop and ride one bus. The whole bus ride took about 30 to 40 minutes. Check Naver Map for the most convenient option from your starting point. Alternatively, you can take a taxi, which is a pricier yet more convenient way to get to the beach.
