Hamdeok Beach is often hailed as one of Jeju Island's most beautiful coastal gems. I've only been to a few beaches in South Korea and this was one of my favorites.

Its powdery white sand, crystal-clear waters, and stunning backdrop of lush greenery make it a must-see destination for both locals and tourists.

What to Expect at Hamdeok Beach

Located on the northeastern coast of Jeju Island in South Korea, Hamdeok Beach is a public beach, meaning there is no entrance fee, and it is open to everyone. It's in Jocheon-eup, a region known for its beautiful beaches and coastal scenery.

The beach boasts calm waters, making it perfect for swimming, snorkeling, or simply splashing around. For an added adventure, you can rent various water sports equipment, such as kayaks or paddleboards.

Beyond swimming, Hamdeok offers plenty of opportunities for relaxation. Bring a good book, spread out a beach towel, and soak up the sun. The surrounding area is dotted with cafes and restaurants serving delicious local cuisine. After a day at the beach, you can enjoy a leisurely stroll along the coast and admire the stunning sunset.

Although my visit to the beach was less than ideal, as it was gloomy and cloudy, I still had a pleasant day. I didn't get to swim because the water was too cold, but I enjoyed walking barefoot on the sand and dipping my feet in the water. There was also a small outdoor market next to the beach where I got some locally-made trinkets and souvenirs. Overall, I loved the vibe and atmosphere.

While it's much possible to visit Hamdeok Beach on a day trip, I would love to come back here and stay for a couple of nights just to relax and get away from the city. And that's for my next trip to the island.
