Jeju Island isn't just about stunning views—the food here is amazing, too. On a recent trip, I stumbled upon a hidden gem while walking around Dongmun Market. It's called Geumbok Sikdang (금복식당). Apparently, it's an old noodle shop which opened in 1965. This place caught my eye because the walls were covered with autographs of Korean celebrities—a sure sign that the food must be good! So I decided to try their specialty dish, gogi guksu.

Gogi guksu in Jeju

Gogi guksu means "pork noodle soup," and it's a Jeju must-try. Unlike some other noodle soups you might find in Korea, Jeju's gogiguksu has a clear, light pork broth. The hot broth had a delicious pork flavor that wasn't too strong, and it was perfectly seasoned. Thin wheat noodles added a nice bite, but the real star was the sliced pork. It was so tender and flavorful, it made the whole dish even better.

Gogi guksu might look simple, but the flavors are amazing. I did add a little kick to mine just because I was craving for something a bit spicy. The clean broth, springy noodles, and melt-in-your-mouth pork all came together perfectly. It was exactly what I needed on a chilly Jeju day – warm, filling, and delicious!
