Located off the mainland of South Korea, Jeju Island has always been a dream destination. For my first time visiting this island, I opted to stay somewhere centrally located, which is why I chose The Jade Hotel. While my Korean friends suggested more secluded and peaceful areas, knowing I wouldn't be renting a car, staying in the city made perfect sense.

With easy access to public transportation, The Jade Hotel was a convenient base for exploring all that Jeju has to offer. Here's my quick review of it.

Location

The Jade Hotel's location is probably the best thing about it.  Exploring the island is a breeze from this hotel.  Just a single bus ride from the airport, The Jade Hotel puts you right next to the lively Chilsungro shopping street.  And if you're craving local flavors, Dongmun Market and Black Pork Street are within a 5-minute walk. It's also surrounded by many convenience stores and restaurants. This central location was perfect for me, as it was also within a 10-minute walk from the pickup points for my pre-booked tours.

Amenities

While I booked a single room, it felt anything but cramped. There was ample space for me to relax and unpack, with room for hanging clothes. The comfortable bed was perfect for one person, and the air conditioning kept me cool during my stay. The room came equipped with a TV, fridge, a kettle for making coffee or tea (though tea and coffee weren't provided), and clean towels were delivered daily. An extra foldable table provided more space for placing my stuff, though the lack of a chair for the table was a bit weird.

The bathroom offered a complete set of toiletries, including shower gel, conditioner, and shampoo. And for those who forgot the essentials, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and disposable razors were available upon request. Slippers were also provided for added comfort.

The Jade Hotel offers on-site dining options with a cafe and a bar downstairs, perfect for grabbing a coffee, a quick bite, or enjoying a relaxing drink after a day of exploring. I tried one of their breakfast offerings, which was an egg mayo and buldak sandwich, and it was really good. I also liked their brewed coffee.

Cleanliness

The hotel was clean. Daily housekeeping ensured a fresh and comfortable environment throughout my stay. However, if you prefer privacy, you could opt out of daily cleaning, and they would just leave the fresh towels and toilet paper in a basket outside your door.

Customer Service

As is typical in Korean hospitality, the staff at The Jade Hotel were polite, friendly, and always helpful. The guy at the front desk was always more than happy to answer my questions whenever I was too lazy to use Naver to search for the nearest pharmacy or Daiso. The answer: they were both within a 3-minute walk from the hotel.

Price

Considering the excellent amenities, the exceptional service, and the unbeatable location, the price tag for The Jade Hotel was really good. My 6-night stay came to around PHP1,574 per night. This was really cheap.

The Jade Hotel exceeded my expectations on all fronts. The convenient location, comfortable room,  exceptional cleanliness, and friendly staff truly made it a gem in the heart of Jeju. I highly recommend The Jade Hotel and would definitely consider them again for any future trips to Jeju Island.
