After a looong day of road travel the day before, I made sure to get a lot of sleep so I have the energy for sightseeing in Thailand. On my 7th day of travel, I had no solid itinerary. Originally I wanted to go to Pattaya but after reading about it, I figured that a day at the beach wasn't really what I wanted so I checked out other options. I first checked Klook to see tour packages being offered in Thailand and saw a tour package for Ayutthaya. It was a really good deal if you prefer having a more relaxed tour experienced.
I decided to DIY because I was feeling adventurous. I worked Google's magic and came across a blog post on how to DIY the tour and used that as my guide.
From Bangkok, I took a Grab motorbike going to Hua Lampong train station where I caught the morning train going to Ayutthaya. After about an hour and a half of train ride, I finally arrived in Ayutthaya. I then walked to the pier and took a small ferry boat to cross the river going to the heritage site. Instead of going on a tuktuk tour, I opted to walk since the distances between the temples are not that far according to the map. They're roughly 1-2 kilometers apart, which for me isn't that bad. Here are the places that I visited.
I left Ayutthaya before 3pm as suggested by a blog post that I've read. It's because the train stations get very busy after 3pm and it might be difficult to catch a train by then.
It was a slooow train ride on the way back and I ended up arriving at Hua Lampong station in Bangkok around 6pm. I took another Grab motorbike going back to my hostel and rested for an hour before going out for dinner.
For dinner, I went to Khaosan road and tried the pad Thai being sold on carts, which was sooo good and super cheap. I also tried a few other street foods. Then I decided to call it a day and go back to my hostel and get some rest.
Wat Chaiyaphum
Wat Ratchaburana
Wat Maha That
Muang Boran Wat
Wat Phra Si Sanphet
Wihan Phra Mongkhon Bophit
