A lot of people have been asking about my itinerary and expenses during my trip to Bali, Indonesia so here goes. While I was in Bali for four days and three nights, I left for Manila in the wee hours of day four so it felt like I was only there for three days and that is the itinerary that I am going to make. Because I stayed there for such a short time, I made sure to maximize my stay going to as many places as I could while still allocating time for surfing (because surfing is life, duh).
Basically, how long you stay per attraction will entirely be up to you. Also, I will be posting the prices in Indonesian Rupiah with the estimate of their Philippine Peso conversion.

For the food, it is relatively cheap there. And there are a lot of options to fit any budget. I basically splurged on food there and still ended up spending less than Php3000. Oh, and that's including drinks and by drinks I mean beer. So overall, here's what I spent in Bali:
- Roundtrip Airfare via Cebu Pacific - 6891 PHP (promo fare)
- 4D3N accommodations at Hotel Puri Tanah Lot via Agoda (1668 PHP/2 pax) - 834 PHP
- Total Expenses for Ubud Tour - 1612 PHP per person
- Surf Board Rental - 185 PHP
- Total for Nusa Penida Tour - 2827 PHP per person
- Food and Drinks - roughly 3000 PHP
- Shopping - roughly 450 PHP
Aaand the grand total is Php16299. That is excluding Philippine travel tax, by the way, and it is still cheap.
So overall, going to Bali is not as expensive as it seems. All you have to do is check for promo fares. Round trip airfare normally costs more than twice of what I paid so the fare that I got was such a sweet deal. Also, accommodations are very very inexpensive in Bali plus there are just sooo many choices from luxury hotels to budget hotels to hostels and dorm-style accommodations. Just check out the reviews first and then take your pick.
Also, here are a few tips and recommendations:
- If you need a driver and tour guide to take you around Bali, I highly recommend Mr. Made Ponky (WhatsApp: +62-857-9247-3931). He's very friendly and he speaks good English. Whole day tours cost roughly Php1800, which includes him as your driver and tour guide, private car rental, and gas. Just tell him where you want to go.
- For the Nusa Penida tour, you can book your tour via GoTravela Indonesia (WhatsApp: +62-853-3339-9175). They offer the most inexpensive tour package to Nusa Penida, with lunch included. Plus, they are the only travel agency that I could find that do not require down payment. The driver does not speak good English, but it was something that we didn't mind. Overall, the tour package was still value for money.
- Lastly for surf lessons, go to Kisa's Fun Surf School in Legian Beach. They offer surf lessons for only Php780 which is already good for two hours. This includes board rental, surf instructor, surf lessons with basics and water safety tips, and use of rash guards, sunblock and zinc. Plus the instructors were very friendly and accommodating.
I hope this helps if you are planning a trip to Bali, Indonesia. If you have any more questions, please feel free to leave a comment or send an email and I will be happy to answer them. :)
