Earlier this year, I did my second Europe trip and this time, I visited the Scandinavian countries. My first stop was Copenhagen where I stayed for three nights.
During this leg of the trip, I stayed in Wakeup Copenhagen, which is a chain of hotels located in the city center. There are three locations for this hotel and I stayed at the one in Carsten Niebuhrs Gade. So let me share with you my experience at this hotel.
Location
Wakeup Copenhagen at Carsten Niebuhrs Gade isn't centrally located but it's accessible enough. The walk from there to various tourist attractions typically takes 20 to 30 minutes, which is honestly not that bad especially if you like to walk. Personally, I prefer walking, even if it takes more than 30 minutes, as it's a great way to burn calories especially since I eat so well when traveling.
I did like the location of this hotel. There are several restaurants and convenience stores within a 10 to 15-minute walk. I chose this hotel specifically because it's a 15-minute walk from the central train station, which is where I got off after taking the train from the airport. It's also a 15-minute walk from the hotel to the Flixbus stop, which is where I took the bus to my next destination.
Amenities
The amenities of Wakeup Copenhagen were quite good. The room was small but there was enough space for me to place my luggage and it didn't feel cramped. The bed was nice and big, which was more than enough for me. I like how the mattress wasn't too soft and I found it comfortable. My room included a small desk where I could do some online work during my downtime.
There's also an ensuite bathroom and toilet that was a bit tiny but it was okay for me. Towels and basic toiletries were provided, plus there's also a hairdryer.
Daily breakfast was optional upon booking as there's an extra fee. However, if you do want to get breakfast during your stay, you can always just go to the restaurant and pay DKK95, or around P760, on the spot. The breakfast was quite good and offered a lot of variety.
Cleanliness
The room and the ensuite bathroom were very clean. The same goes for the common areas. The hotel provides daily cleaning but you can opt out of it - just make sure to tell the staff at the front desk. There's really not much to tell in this regard, just that the room was very clean and looked well-maintained.
Customer Service
The customer service of Wakeup Copenhagen was very good. All the staff members spoke English fluently and they were very accommodating. Even online support through Booking.com was good as they promptly answered all my questions before the trip.
Price
For three nights, I paid DKK1,628 or PHP13,050, which brings the nightly rate to PHP4,350. While this may seem very pricey, it's worth noting that the cost of living in Scandinavian countries is typically more expensive compared to that of other countries in Europe. The quality is better too, which gives good value.
Overall, I had a pleasant stay at Wakeup Copenhagen and if I were to come back to this city, I'd definitely stay here again. I'd highly recommend it.
