This past weekend, the fam and I had a quick getaway in Bataan for some fun under the sun. It has been raining nonstop during the past few days and we figured we really needed some beach-time. On our way to Bataan, we had a stopover in Subic for lunch and we stumbled upon Texas Joe's House of Ribs.

On the outside, Texas Joe's House of Ribs looked as if it came from one of those Western cowboy movies with the red brick exteriors and the rustic interiors. Even the staff were true to the theme as they wore cowboy and cowgirl outfits.

Since they are known for their ribs, we had to order their hickory smoked ribs in the biggest serving called Humongous, which included four cups of rice and four servings of any of their sides. We ordered two of these.
Humongous Ribs - full slab of their Hickory Smoked Spare Ribs, served
with four cups of rice and four sides - Php1999
Mashed Potato - included in the ribs platter, comes with their house gravy

We also ordered two plates of their fries just because we were starving and we figured we could eat the fries while waiting for the ribs.
Panhandle Fries - comes with cheese dip and pickle dip - Php119

My verdict? One of the best ribs I've ever tried. The ribs were perfectly cooked and were very savory. Texas Joe has their own sauce for the ribs which was so delicious and flavorful. I even wanted to buy a bottle. The servings were so huge that we weren't able to finish all the ribs and we ended up having them for take-out. The mashed potato and the gravy was also very delicious. For me, the ribs and mashed potato went perfectly well together.

If you are going to Subic, then I suggest you give this place a try because you won't regret it. Overall, I'd give the food and the service two thumbs up. Texas Joe's House of Ribs is located on Waterfront Rd. cor. McKinley St. in Subic Bay Freeport Zone. Do check it out.
