Women go through lots of mascara tubes. I know I do because I have these not-so-thick lashes. But yeah, in general, we go through mascara tubes more than any other cosmetic because they have the shortest shelf life with an average of just three months. Once they dry out, it's time to toss them away because adding water will just increase the risk of getting eye infection.

I stumbled upon an article and it gave me an idea on how to re-use an old mascara wand. It says on the article that one can use it as an eyebrow brush.

I decided to try it out on one of mine. Now, this tube of mascara has been sitting around in my make-up drawer and it has not been used for months. I guess I just forgot to throw it away. But it's a good thing that I didn't because if I did, then I wouldn't have anything to use for this. Heeee. Here it is in its icky, gooey state.

What I did was really simple. First, I tossed the mascara tube into my garbage can. Hah. Okay, then I let the mascara wand sit in a glass of warm water for about fifteen minutes. By then, you should be able to see the black flakes floating in the water. I also rubbed the stick part gently to remove the bits of mascara. Then I washed it with a small amount of shampoo and rinsed it off. After rinsing, I dipped the wand in warm water again to make sure that there is no excess mascara left in the brush and on the stick part.

Then, I gently wiped it clean with a soft towel. Or you can also let it air-dry. And voila!

As you can see from the photo above, I wrapped a strip of animal-printed tape on it to add some pizzazz to it but that part is optional. Teehee.

Okay, so there you go. Try this on one of your mascara wands as it makes for a good eyebrow brush. You can also use it as a tool for separating clumps in your eyelashes. But I would rather use it as an eyebrow brush. Try it, try it. :)
