Dakgalbi is one of my favorite Korean dishes, so whenever I’m in Seoul, I try to have it at least once. On one of those visits, I ended up at Yoogane Dakgalbi, a well-known chain with several branches around the city, including a few in Myeongdong. I went to one of the Myeongdong locations during lunch.
Even though Yoogane is quite popular, I rarely see long queues here. I'd chalk it up to them having multiple branches in one area. My friend and I got there around lunchtime, and were seated right away without any wait. That already made the experience feel a lot more relaxed compared to other dakgalbi places that can get extremely crowded.
The taste was really good and definitely satisfied my dakgalbi craving. The chicken was tender, the vegetables were cooked well, and the sauce had that familiar spicy and slightly sweet flavor that makes the dish so satisfying. It was a simple meal, but done well.
What I like most about Yoogane is that they offer dakgalbi meals for solo diners. Many dakgalbi restaurants require a minimum order for two people, which can be inconvenient if you’re traveling alone. Here, you can order a single portion without paying for two servings. If you want to try dakgalbi without worrying about sharing or ordering extra food, this is a very convenient option.
Overall, Yoogane is a solid place to try dakgalbi, especially if you want to avoid long queues or if you're dining solo. It’s especially a good option if you’re exploring Myeongdong and want something filling and reliable.
