One of the things that Singapore is known for is its world-class and award-winning airport. Singapore's Changi Airport has won many awards, including Best Airport in Asia Pacific from 2010 to 2022 and Best Airport in the World from 1992 to 2022.
Changi Airport is the best airport for long layovers because there are lots of things for people to do. It has art installations, a butterfly garden, a cactus garden, and other attractions for airport passengers to enjoy. It even has a cinema with 24-hour movie screenings of blockbuster films, which is completely free.
The most recent addition is the Jewel - a huge commercial complex that's directly connected to Terminal 1 with access to the other terminals. The main attraction is the Rain Vortex, which is the world's tallest indoor waterfall, surrounded by a terraced forest setting.
It's a tourist attraction in itself. Even if you don't have a flight, you can enter the Jewel for free, and shop and dine. You can take the MRT to Terminal 3 and walk. If you have an outbound flight from Singapore, you can choose to arrive early for your flight and enjoy what the Jewel has to offer before checking in.
Of course, the best way to experience the Jewel is by checking out all the attractions and fun activities that you can do.
If you are arriving in Singapore, you may want to check it out first before heading straight to your hotel. As mentioned, it is directly connected to Terminal 1. If you're arriving at a different terminal, there are other ways to access it. There's even a free airport shuttle bus.
