A few days ago, I was in beautiful Siargao for a quick vacay. Beautiful - that's the first word that comes to mind whenever I think of Siargao. Just to give you a quick background, Siargao is an island which is part of the Surigao del Norte province, located in the southern part of the Philippines. While it is known as one of the country's prime surfing destinations, this island has so much to offer that even non-surfers can enjoy. With its lush landscape, turquoise waters, charming little islands and stunning rock formations, the island of Siargao is truly such a beauty.

The first tour that I went on in Siargao was the Sugba Lagoon tour which I booked through Kermit Surf Resort located in General Luna. The tour is an organized group tour which was good for a whole day. The tour started at 7am. From Kermit Surf Resort, we went on a road trip for about an hour going to Del Carmen where we boarded the boat going Sugba Lagoon. The boat trip lasted for about an hour.

Sugba Lagoon is a lagoon surrounded by mangroves, greenery, and small islands. There is a small wooden building for registration. It's also where tourists can rest and leave their things while they spend their time at the lagoon. Activities include paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming, and jumping off a twelve-foot high ledge.

We spent three hours at the lagoon. Afterwards, we headed to an island called Kawhagan Island as a side trip. Kawhagan Island is located just thirty minutes away by boat from Sugba Lagoon. It is a charming little island with pristine sand and lush coconut trees, surrounded by clear waters. It is where we had our lunch, which was included in the tour package. Our lunch consisted of rice, grilled pork and fish, chicken adobo, fish kinilaw, and fresh mangoes and watermelon.

We spent about two hours in Kawhagan Island, after which we headed back to Del Carmen and boarded our van going back to General Luna.

It was a fun tour. Sugba Lagoon was very stunning and I enjoyed the "cliff" jumping part a lot. I actually did it twice. Kawhagan Island, while it was not the most beautiful island in Siargao, was still a treat to go to. I paid Php2000 for the trip which includes lunch, with no extra or hidden charges whatsoever, and it was very much worth it. I guess that's about it for this blog post. Keep posted for more of my Siargao adventures.
