From the group that brought you the famous Mama Lou's Italian Kitchen in the south, here is Nonna's Pasta and Pizzeria. As the name of the restaurant suggests, this place serves scrumptious pizza and pasta dishes, along with many others. The first ever branch of Nonna's Pasta and Pizzeria opened in Nuvali in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. Now, they have a branch in Robinsons Galleria, making their yummy offerings more accessible to people in the metro.
This is where I first got to try the food at Nonna's and the experience was sooo good. Here are the dishes I tried. Like most meals go, we started with appetizers.
Arugula with Burrata Salad - arugula leaves with Parmesan cheese and cashew
nuts topped with Burrata cheese
Mussels and Clams in White Wine - a medley of mussels and clams baked,
served with white wine sauce
Ciao-Viche - cubed mahi-mahi and squid served in vinegar based dressing,
garnished with onions and tomatoes
Up next are the pasta dishes, which they are known for. All were served with buttered garlic bread. For all of their dishes, Nonna's Pasta and Pizzeria uses only the freshest organic ingredients. Even the food coloring used for the pasta is natural. Fun fact: the Radiatori pasta below, named such because the pasta is shaped like radiators, are hand-made and dyed with food coloring made from veggies.
Three Cheese Ravioli - ravioli filled with ricotta, mozzarella, and Parmesan, in
tomato sauce, topped with more cheese
Seafood al Nero - black pasta in red sauce topped with assorted seafood: clams,
mussels, shrimp, and squid
Radiatori Chorizo and Mussel - hand-shaped pasta in oil-based sauce topped
with chorizo and mussels, sprinkled with cheese
Salted Egg Tagliatelle - pasta in cream-based salted egg sauce
Among the four, my favorite would have to be the Three Cheese Ravioli. Why? Because cheese, 'nuff said. It was just so rich in cheesy flavor and I couldn't get enough of it. I loved how all the cheese filling just exploded in my mouth after taking a bite of the ravioli.
Of course, a trip to Nonna's won't be complete without sampling their pizza. Each pizza is uniquely made with nothing but premium ingredients. The pizza flavors are not your usual flavors either.
Hawaiian Pizza - their take on Hawaiian pizza, topped with prosciutto, blue
cheese, Parmesan, and freshly cut pineapples, with green peppers for a little
spicy kick
Smoked Salmon and Caviar Pizza - pizza topped with smoked salmon, caviar,
and blue cheese
Nonna's Special Pizza - easily their bestseller, topped with mozzarella cheese,
pesto sauce, tomato sauce, and Burrata cheese
Hands down, Nonna's served me the best pizza I've ever tried. I looove Hawaiian pizza and their version is a thousand times better. I loved that they put some pepper in it to make it a wee bit spicy. Of course, the Nonna's Special Pizza is also a winner.
Lastly, no meal is ever complete without dessert. For this, we tried their bestseller, which is their take on an Italian favorite.
Lemon Meringue Sandwich - two big pieces of meringue, with lemon-flavored
cream in between
Overall, I loved the food at Nonna's Pasta and Pizzeria. I loved that each dish was freshly made with only the best ingredients. I loved how each dish was bursting with flavors and that the servings are very generous.
Nonna's Pasta and Pizzeria is located on the 3rd level of Robinsons Galleria. Check it out if you want to try their scrumptious pizzas and pasta dishes.
