If you're in the area surrounding Osaka Castle, there are lots of restaurants to choose from. One of them is Katsuma at Jo-Terrace, which is a business complex with lots of shops and restaurants. It can get crowded on weekends with tourists and locals flocking to this area.

As the name suggests, Katsuma is a Japanese restaurant that specializes in katsu, which is a meat cutlet that's coated with thick breading and then deep-fried. It's typically pork or chicken. While Japanese cuisine offers a lot of variety, I do like katsu and for me, it's a comfort food. It's also a great option for picky eaters who aren't into seafood or anything raw, which is quite common in Japan.

Katsuma Jo-Terrace
pork loin and fried chicken set meal

I ordered the pork loin and fried chicken set meal which cost JPY1,250 or around PHP460. It comes with a pork cutlet, two pieces of fried chicken, shredded cabbage, a cup of rice, and a bowl of miso soup. I thought the price was reasonable since the portions were quite generous. The taste was also quite good and I could understand the hype with this place. I especially loved the fried chicken because it was very flavorful. The sauce was also good.

When we went there, there was a long queue outside and it took us around 30 minutes to get a table. It wasn't that bad of a wait though and service was quite quick. We didn't have to wait too long for our food to arrive.

If you're in the Osaka Castle area, I'd recommend Katsuma Jo-Terrace if you're in the mood for katsu.
