I love drinking coffee and whenever I travel, I always make sure to try some of the local coffee shops in the cities I'm visiting.

I generally like the ambiance of coffee shops, especially al fresco ones, because there's something I find relaxing with just sitting at a table and drinking coffee or any hot drink while watching the people go about their day.

Since I was in Vienna for just a few days, I didn't get to try a lot of coffee shops but I did try a couple and I would actually recommend them both, and here's why.

Cafe Weinwurm

Located at Stephansplatz, this cafe in Vienna has an al fresco seating area that gives you a perfect view of St. Stephen's Cathedral. I saw this place while I was exploring Innere Stadt and I thought it was a great spot to get a hot drink while taking a break from all the walking that I did.

It was a cold day so I figured ordering a hot chocolate would be perfect. The hot chocolate was good, although there was nothing too special about it. It wasn't too sweet, which is exactly how I like my hot chocolate. They did serve it with a couple of sugar packets so I could adjust the sweetness to my liking.

I would recommend this place mainly because of its location. The items on the menu were a bit pricey, but that's because Vienna is generally an expensive city so I guess this is normal. But I have no complaints.

Casolaro Bros

This cafe is located a bit outside of the city center. I discovered this place when I was walking from Karlskirche to Belvedere Palace while trying to find a place to eat. I like how it's not on the busy streets so it's like a quaint little spot to have coffee and grab a quick bite. This place has both indoor and outdoor seating and it gives off a really laid-back vibe, which I like.

This is an Italian place so I knew right off the bat that their coffee was going to taste good. I had a plain black coffee and ordered one of their sandwiches that had mozzarella and prosciutto, I think. I can't exactly remember what type of meat was in it but the sandwich was definitely tasty.

I'd recommend Casolaro Bros because, apart from offering good coffee and food, their service was good and the overall vibe of the place was nice and chill.

If ever you're in Vienna and you're looking for places to get coffee and even something to eat, do check out these places.
