For our two-night stay in Victoria, my family and I booked a room at Huntingdon Hotel and Suites. It turned out to be a great choice as it was comfortable, well-located, and offered good amenities at a fair price.

Huntingdon Hotel & Suites

While it’s not a luxury hotel, it delivered everything we needed for a smooth and enjoyable stay.

Location

Huntingdon Hotel and Suites has a good but not central location. It’s about a 10 to 15-minute walk to Inner Harbour and the city center, which worked well for us. The area is mostly residential, so it’s quieter compared to hotels right in downtown Victoria. Fisherman’s Wharf and the Breakwater at Ogden Point are also within walking distance, which was a nice bonus.

Aside from the convenience, the building itself is quite charming, with a historic feel that fits well with Victoria’s overall aesthetic. The hotel also has well-maintained gardens, which add to its appeal, making it feel a little more tucked away and peaceful.

Amenities

We booked a double room with two spacious beds, each large enough to fit two people comfortably. There was plenty of space to move around, which is something I always appreciate in a hotel room. We had a mini-fridge, air conditioning, a kettle with tea and instant coffee (this coffee was honestly so good), and a spacious bathroom with a bathtub - small details that made our stay more pleasant. The bed was comfortable, and we had no complaints about the room overall.

One of the perks of staying here was the complimentary daily breakfast, which was buffet-style. It had a good variety of options - nothing too fancy, but enough to start the day right. The food itself was decent; however, some of the desserts were on the dry side. Still, it was a nice convenience to have, and we made the most of it each morning.

Cleanliness

Both our room and the hotel’s common areas were clean and well-maintained. Housekeeping came daily, and we had no issues with cleanliness. Everything felt tidy and well-kept, which is all I could ask for.

Customer Service

The staff were friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. One big plus was that we got to check in early, which was a pleasant surprise after a long morning of travel. They were always happy to help us with any questions and even assisted us with booking activities. The service was professional yet warm, making the experience even better.

Price

We paid PHP16,130 PHP, around PHP8,000 or CAD198 per night, for three people, which I found to be a fair price for the level of comfort and service we received. This rate was quite reasonable since we booked early - I noticed that last-minute bookings can go up to 12,000 PHP per night. So if you're planning to stay here, it’s definitely worth booking in advance to lock in a better price.

Overall, I would recommend Huntingdon Hotel and Suites. It’s a good mid-range option in Victoria, especially if you prefer a quieter area while still being close to the main attractions. The rooms are comfortable, the service is great, and the breakfast is a nice bonus. While it’s not a luxury stay, it offers good value for money, especially if you book early. If I ever return to Victoria, I’d consider staying here again.
