During my recent trip to Lisbon, Portugal, I stayed at O Eletrico Guesthouse located in the Arroios District. Here's a breakdown of my experience, covering all the essentials, from location and amenities to cleanliness and customer service.
Location
O Eletrico Guesthouse is ideally situated for travelers who enjoy exploring the city by foot and want easy access to Lisbon’s public transport. Many popular tourist spots are within a 20 to 30-minute walk. Plus, t nearby subway station, givesyou great flexibility to hop on public transport if you prefer not to walk.
The area itself has plenty of options for dining and convenience shopping, with numerous restaurants, convenience stores, and even a pharmacy nearby. However, it’s worth noting that the neighborhood can feel a bit sketchy, especially for solo female travelers. I was traveling alone and felt a bit uneasy at times due to the vibe, but I didn’t encounter any issues during my stay. Just exercise standard caution, and you should be fine.
Amenities
One of the standout features of this place is the quality and variety of amenities. My room had a surprisingly large amount of space, especially given that this was a single room. There was a spacious single bed, a TV, a fridge, a closet, and even a table and chair setup, providing ample storage and workspace. The outlets next to the bed were convenient, and I was pleasantly surprised by the room’s air conditioning, which isn’t always a given at this price point in Lisbon.
The shared bathroom was well-stocked, with essentials like shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and even a hairdryer provided. I never had issues with waiting for the bathroom.
The guesthouse also kindly provided a free one-liter of drinking water. Additionally, they lent me a kettle upon request, which was a nice touch since I could make tea or coffee in the room. The fridge was especially useful for storing breakfast items, and a microwave was also available in the common area.
Cleanliness
Cleanliness was consistently good. My room was spotless upon arrival, and there was an option for daily cleaning if desired. The shared bathroom was well-maintained and consistently clean, which can be rare in a shared setting.
Customer Service
Customer service here was top-notch. The receptionist was incredibly friendly, always accommodating, and answered all my questions with a smile. From helping with directions to lending me the kettle, he was genuinely helpful, adding to the positive experience of my stay.
Price
For four nights, I paid PHP14,225, which comes out to roughly PHP3,556 per night. Considering the room’s air conditioning, spacious layout, and good amenities, I found this to be a fair price and, overall, a good value for money. Lisbon can be pricey for accommodation, and O Eletrico Guesthouse offers an affordable yet comfortable option.
Would I recommend O Eletrico Guesthouse? Yes, but with some caution. The guesthouse itself is clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, and the staff are friendly and helpful. However, the slightly sketchy neighborhood might not be ideal for solo female travelers. Although I didn’t have any negative experiences personally, the area’s vibe can be unsettling if you’re not used to it.
If you’re okay with the neighborhood and like the idea of a budget-friendly, well-equipped place with excellent amenities, O Eletrico Guesthouse is a solid option for staying in Lisbon.
