If you ask me what the most beautiful island in Siargao is, it's none of the islands that people visit during the three-island hopping tour.

For me, the most beautiful island in Siargao is Mam-on Island. It is an island that's about a 45-minute boat ride from General Luna. It's further south of Daku Island, and it has the most pristine sand and it is surrounded by the clearest turquoise waters.

What I love about it is that it's not included in the usual island hopping tours so it's not being regularly flocked by tourists. Sometimes, you could even get the whole island to yourself - well aside from the residents, that is.

Apart from its stunning beach, Mam-on Island also has some nice reefs for snorkeling. Unfortunately, it was low tide that day. But I did get to see some fish.

If you want to visit Mam-on Island, you have to plan it well. Since there are no restaurants there, you need to bring your own food. It'll be cheaper to bring cooked food, but you can also buy raw food from the market and pay someone on the island to cook it for you. They charge around PHP70 per kilo for cooking food. There is a small store for you to buy drinks and snacks, but it will be cheaper if you buy on the mainland.

There is no entrance fee in Mam-on Island but if you want to stay in one of the huts, you have to pay for it. Renting out a hut costs PHP500.

If have at least a week in Siargao, I would recommend spending one whole day on Mam-on Island. It is a nice and relaxing place, and I guarantee that you would love it there. The boat ride is longer going there but it is very much worth it.
