At a height of 2717 masl, Mt. Timbak in Atok, Benguet is the third highest mountain in Luzon and the ninth highest mountain in the Philippines.
The trail head is along Halsema Highway but there is an easier way if you have a private vehicle. If you want to go on the easy route, you can take your vehicle all the way to Timbak Elementary School. From there, the trek itself takes 30 to 40 minutes, depending on how fast you go.
From the summit, there is a breathtaking sea of clouds to one side, Mt. Pulag and Mt. Tabayoc on another, and a view of rice paddies on the other.
How to get there:
From Baguio city, you can take buses with the Baguio-Bontoc or Baguio-Sagada route. Ask the bus conductor to drop you off at KM. 55 on Halsema Highway, and from there you will see the trail head on your right. In our case, we simply organized a group tour with a van all the way from Manila which meant we started our trek at Timbak Elementary School.
