Now let's get to Thailand. I have been to Phuket before and have tried Thai food when I was there, and I looove Thai food so I was really looking forward to this leg of my backpacking trip.
Day 6. This day was spent almost entirely on the bus. I had a quick lunch provided by Giant Ibis - fried rice with egg. My next meal was in Khao San Road at a restaurant called Villa Cha-Cha Rambuttri. I ordered the shrimp Pad Thai.
Day 7. Before leaving for Ayutthaya, I had a quick breakfast at the hostel which was free. I had toast, jam, cereal, and milk. It was pretty light but was better than nothing. For lunch, I ate at a local restaurant called Sothum Sukunya and ordered their egg fried rice which was really cheap. I also ordered lime soda.
For dinner, I went to Khao San Road to try the street food. I ordered the 40baht Pad Thai being sold on street carts. I also bought roti for dessert.
Day 8. For my eighth day, I had the usual free hostel breakfast before leaving for my walking tour. For lunch, I ate at McDonald's which was nothing really special so I didn't bother taking photos.
I spent the afternoon at Chatuchak Market and ended up trying a bunch of street foods. Here is what I have tried there.
squid balls
fried veggie spring rolls
mango shake
orange-flavored popsicle
For dinner, I went back to Villa Cha-Cha Rambuttri and tried their shrimp fried rice which was really good. I wanted to order Pad Thai again but figured I should try something different for a change.
Day 9. For my last day in Thailand, the only meal I had was at the airport where I ordered my usual Burger King order.
That's about it for the Thailand leg of the food tripping. As usual, Thai food did not disappoint - they were all delicious and really inexpensive. Which is why Thailand is one of my favorite places for food tripping.
